SONG OF THE DAY Mr Airplane Man – Sun Sinking Low

Purveyors of sexy swamp blues, psychedelic pop and garage rock, Boston’s Mr. Airplane Man formed in the late 90’s.  Consisting of Margaret Garrett on guitar/slide guitar/vocals and Tara McManus on drums/ vocals/occasional Farfisa organ, the duo derive influences from blues greats such as Fred McDowell, Jesse Mae Hemphill, and Howlin’ Wolf.

Releasing three full-length albums of hypnotic blues and idiosyncratic rock and roll for infamous label Sympathy for the Record Industry, not to mention two sessions on the BBC for the legendary John Peel, Mr Airplane Man have released two new albums last month, one of which was a self-titled best of compilation.

The record features Sun Sinking Low, a track originally released on their 2002 Moanin’ LP and, if you’re not already familiar with Mr Airplane man, is the perfect place to start..If, on the other hand, you know their usic well, then this track is a classic! Check it out above.
