SONG OF THE DAY The Mystery Lights – Traces

Image may contain: 5 people, people sittingIn just over two weeks to go The Mystery Lights will release their brand spanking new record and today the Brooklyn psych-rockers have shared another new track!

With a second album that looks set to be every bit as fine and frenzied as their first, this is a truly exciting prospect and I’ve yet to hear this band write a bad song…they haven’t even come close!!! Following The Mystery Lights has been a non-stop thrill and their upcoming release steps up a gear as they head full-throttle into even crazier, more punk-fuelled realms.

Releasing via Daptone’s rock subsidiary, Wick Records, Too Much Tension finds the group digging deeper into their brimming well of eclectic influences, enriching their sound without echoing the past.  Packing the punch of punk and the prowess of pop this LP (as described by Wick Records) “mixes the eerie, insistent synth sounds of groups like The Normal and Suicide, the energy and swagger of punk’s golden age, the pop sensibility of The Kinks, and the stark, deliberate execution of Television. The Mystery Lights are taking their idiosyncratic brand of rock and roll to dizzying new heights”.

New track Traces is edgy and wired!! It’s sharp, its lively and you can hear the punk influence as it runs riot through the heavy rolling bass, sharp guitar and lively rhythm; vocals hurl out melodic, pulsating shouts as the heavy beat gets the blood moving and the feet and head stomping. Check it out above.

Too Much Tension is to be released on 8th May via Daptone’s rock subsidiary, Wick Records. Pre-order your copy from here and listen to more on my pages here!
