SONG OF THE DAY SAULT – Don’t Waste My Time

I always maintain that if the bass and drum section is good, then all else will follow.  Today’s song has one hell of an infectious groove and with each play I find myself loving it more and more!

A new discovery for me today, SAULT are a London-based trio who emerged earlier this year with a debut, entitled “5”, making its appearance earlier this spring.  Featuring musician Dean “Inflo” Josiah Cover (writer of DanDigs.com audio mainstays “Black Man in a White World” by Michael Kiwanuka, “House in LA” by Jungle, “Offence” by Little Simz, and many, many more), the band are releasing via UK indie label, Forever Living Originals .

Second single Don’t Waste My Time rocks a truly funky bass line; its rich depths contrasting the highs of the vivid sunshine vocals and African-style chants.  The modern beat offsets a 70’s funk feel, marrying the two worlds together in what is perfect musical harmony. and in blending the two so seamlessly SAULT have fused not only a mix of genres, but also era’s!  Check it out above and listen/purchase the whole album here.
