SONG OF THE DAY Baston – Primates

Emerging from France in 2015 in a haze of retro garage-psych came Brest-based trio, Baston.  In these early days when the band first appeared on the scene the their sound nestled somewhere between jangle-pop and indie-psych, but their latest single hints upon something slightly darker.

At the end of next month Baston will be releasing their debut album, Primates, four years after the release of the EP, Gesture.  The album’s title track is to be their first single and boasts a different sound, orientated around an 80’s synth post-punk feel with hints of Echo and the Bunnymen and Joy Division coursing through the melodic grittiness.  I love it and love the transition of sounds! Check it out above.

Primates releases next month on Howlin’ Banana Records
