SONG OF THE DAY James Hunter Six – Til I Hear It From You

The gloriously deep rich tones of James Hunter have been roaring out authentic, heartfelt tunes ever since he started out in 1986 and his nostalgic, soulful sound has only grown in character and strength ever since.

Seeing them live this year was a highlight and what you hear is what you get with this band, strong solid r&b! From fluttering percussion to the melodic brass section, James Hunter and his band captures the heart with their soul!

The James Hunter Six have returned with another sublime offering of no-nonsense rhythm and blues. Their new record entitled Nick of Time was recorded and produced by Bosco Mann and is a shining example of how a master song-smith can continually draw fresh water from a bottomless well.  Firmly established in the world of swinging r&b, the band’s new offering explores a little more, venturing into the realms of mid-tempo rumba and 1960’s Burt Bacharach-style serenades.  If you’re already a fan, you will love this record and if you are new to this band, you’ll find a home for your ears here I’m sure!

Til I Hear It From You is a track that stood out for me, its dancing rhythm offering the perfect backdrop for its shuffling melody and cutting harmonica mid-section. Hunter’s vocals are as striking as ever and what I love is the clarity in his voice, you can hear every word and his tone is completely discernible, I could listen to him sing til the cows come home! Yum! Check it out above and listen/purchase the rest of Nick of Time from here and listen to more on my blog pages here.
