SONG OF THE DAY Lee Stone – What Is Life

After What Is Life was released on the first volume in Tramp Record’s “Praise Poems” series in 2015, the label received a lot of requests to re-issue the 45rpm single too.

Five years later and this day has finally come!!! Recently reissued is vocalist/drummer/              songwriter/producer, Lee Stone’s single, which is now available on vinyl ( in limited supplies only) as well as digitally!!

Featuring on the b-side is another tender cut of soulful jazz-funk entitled Eyes Full of Starshine which, I do believe, originally featured on Lee Stone’s one and only album, Musically Yours, from 1969.  One can assume that today’s song was originally released at the same kind of time, but I’ve struggled to clarify the original released date to What Is Life…..if anyone knows for sure, do get in touch?

Lee Stone’s tender vocals reach deep as they question the trials of love, life and foolish, misplaced giving.  Lyrics may be tinged with disenchantment, but the beat is smooth and sassy, the groove fluent and the melody keeps you afloat.  It’s a little beauty! Listen above and grab yourself a copy of the single (in all formats) from here
