SONG OF THE DAY Purple Desert Rain God – Invisible Matter

Sweden’s Höga Nord Rekords wants to “expand your senses and revolutionise your mind” and I think with today’s offering they can certainly take credit for this!

A brand new signing, the Purple Desert Rain God are a match made in heaven for the Gothenburg-based label.  Shrouded in mystery, this project takes to the walls of consciousness and climbs beyond their parameters with sonic abandon; entering into realms of brain-bending possibilities.  Not limited to any one genre, their acid-drenched concoctions dabbles with dance, electronica, krautrock, psych-rock and pretty much anything in between – They don’t genre-lise, so neither will I!

Their debut 45 was released at the end of last month, fronted by Invisible Matter and Bridge to Nowhere on the b-side. If you have a spare 11 or so minutes I’d urge you to switch off any lights and disappear in to the darkness with this playing on some headphones. Mind you, regardless of where you are, this will do the trick if you fancy dodging reality for a bit; there is just the right balance of everything to get you out of ‘it’ for a while – and I welcome any chance to escape these days!

To feed the mystery they’ve created with their debut, PDRG stated: “Deep in the purple desert is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense – but the Rain God is always one step beyond logic..”
