SONG OF THE DAY Kevin Morby – Wander

As evocative as ever, Kevin Morby has recently released two new singles from his forthcoming album Sundowner, which is due for release in October.

Don’t Underestimate Midwest American Sun and (today’s track) Wander are two precious little sandy crystals, blown straight from sun-scorched dusty realms where the endless rays of desert heat the skin.  This was Morby’s intention with these new tracks:  “It was my goal to capture the vast openness of the middle American landscape sonically. To this end – there is a whole track of nothing but Texas air, birds and wind chimes living beneath the song,” he said.

The two new singles follow on from Morby’s lead single, Campfire released earlier this month. In addition to the tracks, there is also a music video to accompany Wander (see below) which was directed by Graham Shafer and featuring Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield.

Sundowner is Morby’s sixth studio album and is due for release on October 16th through Dead Oceans.  Recorded using a Tascam 424 audio recorder, the record has been a year and a half in the making.  Listen above and pre-order a copy of the album from here.
