SONG OF THE DAY Daz’Rene – Change

With an average price of £70 – £230 for an original copy of today’s song, I think it’s safe to say this is a rare 45!!

Dazrene Patterson, a.k.a Daz Rene, hailed from Victoria, Texas and released only a handful of 45’s and one album throughout the early 70’s.

Change was one of these 45’s and showcases her powerful vocals fantastically which, equalled only by strong lyrics, are crying out for change!….still we wait eh! Once the bass kicks in with its swirling-dance magic, this goes proper crazy and the rest of the song pivots around a fast/slow dynamic with all instruments building and receding in glorious unison! What a song!!

Change was released in 1972 on a label called Cared Records and has since been sampled by Gonjasufi in his 2010 rendition.   It’s a cracking track with a message we could all (still) do with listening to… Check it out above.
