SONG OF THE DAY The Cave Dwellers – Meditation

Today’s rather slinky offering is full of twists, turns and sinuous going’s on! As its meditative melody unfurls across hypnotic highs and luring lows, this little garage-fuzz rarity really sucks you in – what a shame this is the only 45 released by the band!

The Cave Dwellers were a psych/lounge band from Pleasanton, California.  Active in the late 1960’s, they were signed to California’s Bay Town Records and released their one and only single in 1968.  Backed with the hazy meandering instrumental, Night Runner, the two sides are nicely contrasting, boasting a laid-back/intense fusion across the both sides.

Meditation saunters along in a kaleidoscopic haze until you get to the freaky psychotropic mid-section! Then it all gets crazy and out comes this Dick Dale Misirlou-tinged interval of mind-bending mayhem! It’s a treat to the senses and the lyrics are cool too! Check it out above. .
