SONG OF THE DAY Melodica Teens Band – Mwekuru Muthao

Issued on Kenyan label, Melodica Records, today’s rarity featured on the b-side to a single entitled, Kigaru No. 2.  The Melodica Teens Band released a handful of singles and EP’s throughout the early 70’s, but I can’t tell you much more than this, information is scarce to say the least.

Mwekuru Muthao also featured on the second compilation from the Sofrito sound system team of Hugo Mendez and Frankie Francis. Released in 2012, “Sofrito: International Soundclash” gathered together a wide spectrum of original tropical dancefloor gems from French Caribbean rarities to cumbia and soca disco – including the gentle stir of Mwekuru Muthao..
