SONG OF THE DAY The Latins ‎– Habibi Twist

This exotic sonic adventure has a little bit of everything thrown into its sublimely chromatic mix, but in all the right measures! It’s mystical Arabic-tinged body is coated with with shades of exotica, jazz and surf, whilst a touch of Latin dances over the dynamic contours! I LOVE this (fun) tune!!

Originally released in 1962 on RCA Italiana, Habibi Twist was performed by a band called The Latins. They released a succession of 45’s throughout the 1960’s, but it looks like they only issued one album? Why there is nothing out there about this band, I cannot tell you, but what I can tell you is that if you happen to be fortunate enough to own or come across an original copy of this 45, expect to yield/pay out over £250 for the privilege; but what a privilege it is!!!  If you don’t fancy paying such a hefty price, you may be happy to know that Habibi Twist (b/w Alba & Orchestre Aris’ Alba’s Shake‘) was reissued a couple of years back by Radio Martiko and can be picked up for a fraction of the price! Check it out above.
