“Swamp music for thinking people…….”
The Gun Club may have become a well-known and established band with a few band member changes over the years, but they never quite lost that little ‘rough-round-the-edges” sound.
Mother Juno was an album the band put out in 1987 and it was this record that featured today’s intoxicating offering, Yellow Eyes. Originally entitled Funky Junky, the track was one of nine songs that made up this alternative, punk-blues venture! Produced by Robin Guthrie of the Cocteau Twins, the Rolling Stone Album Guide described Mother Juno as “swamp music for thinking people,” and, with its wonderfully bendy, murky and dreamy twists and turns, you can see why it gained this rather apt description; this sound sinks into the pours with gritty escape!
