SONG OF THE DAY ⛄ Houghas Sorowonko ‎– A Groovy Christmas And New Year 🎄

R-7896300-1451174937-5298.jpegWhen it comes to Christmas music, it can be a laborious mission hauling through the many festive offerings there out there! Finding that something special can be tricky, but today’s song says it all really, and what’s more, this is a groovy little beast!!

This very perky Ghanaian funk (a-la-James Brown-style) was released in the 1970’s, though I can’t be sure on that one! What I am going by is that Houghas Sorowonko comprised of Highlife musician/ songwriter/ producer, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, as well as vocalist Pee Pee Dynamite (what a name!). Gyedu Blay Ambolley was releasing in the mid-1970’s, so I can only assume that today’s track was from this era?

A Groovy Christmas And New Year was also recently reissued on Academy LP’s (a reissue label from New York) in 2011 and, with its upbeat funk groove, is the perfect way to wish YOU ALL a very happy festive period…in whatever way you choose to celebrate (or not).

I’ll be back soon, but until then, enjoy this festive funk and be happy!…..
