SONG OF THE DAY Deana Martin – The Bottom of My Mind

R-5531695-1454779592-7813Not only is Deana Martin the daughter of the late, great Dean Martin, but she is a singer, actor, performer and author in her own right. Martin began her recording career working with the wonderful singer-songwriter and producer, Lee Hazlewood at Reprise Records.

Impressively, her early recordings were made whilst she was a teenager, which was the case with today’s offering! When she recorded The Bottom of My Mind (which featured as the flip/A side to her Baby I See You) 45, she was just 18 years old!! Composed by Robert Corso and arranged by Billy Strange, these tracks were produced by Lee Hazelwood, with both unravelling with equal enthralling narrative quality. I like her sound and I like that you can hear Lee Hazelwood’s work in her music. Enjoy!
