East London’s post punk purveyors, Cross Wires, share first track from upcoming EP (17.4.20)

Taken from our debut album ‘A Life Extinct’ our radio hit ‘Distraction Technique’ will be released as part of a new EP on Friday 1st May . Produced by Rory Attwell and backed by 2 demos, I Wanna Be Your Man Again and Vultures. Both demos were recorded at Soundsavers studio in Homerton, East London a few years back and produced by Alex Clegg. You can pre save the EP on Spotify now (It really helps if you do this) Keep safe. We can’t wait to see you all on the other side of this. #crosswiresband #crosswires #punk #postpunk #indie #ep #distractiontechnique #eastlondon #homerton #soundsaversEmerging from East London just over two years ago in a furious haze of post-punk mayhem, Cross Wires released only one mini album before making an impromptu exit less than a year later.

Upon their return the band released, A Life Extinct, a debut record which marked a new chapter in their musical ventures. Compared to the likes of Mark E. Smith, The Jam and Elvis Costello (though a far more impassioned and fierce version of the latter!) Cross Wires recorded their new LP in 2019 at the Kluster Rooms studio in East London.  Tackling some of the issues we now face in these difficult climatic and political times, the record is an edgy and dynamic. It cries out with angst-driven fury, reaching out with hands that are also firmly gripping the same sinking boat we all find ourselves wrestling to keep afloat in!

Next month Cross Wires are to release new three-track EP entitled, Distraction Technique.  For anyone familiar with last year’s debut you may recognise this title as yes, this song was featured on their first record, but it will now also be available as part of the new EP.  This is to be released on Friday 1st May and will be accompanied by two other demo tracks which were recorded at Soundsavers in Homerton.

The track is already gaining recognition through airplay and was recently featured on John Kennedy’s X-Posure show on Radio X; which is quite something for a band with no Radio Plugger or management! Nice one Cross Wires!  Maybe this is a song of our times, its fierce, strong and may just provide us with a much needed ‘distraction’ that we all need right now in these uncharted and very troubling days.

Here’s to many more releases Cross Wires! Check out the EP’s title track above – Which will be available on all streaming services on 1st May.  Pre-order yourself a copy from here.
