“Thank you for supporting Discodelic’s “Walk On” series! This is the second sprint of releases, featuring four more obscurities from four more uncelebrated unsung heroes of the Panamanian psychedelic rock scene of the 1960s and ‘70s….” Discodelic
San Francisco’s very funky Discodelic label have recently been releasing some previously unissued (outside of Panama) rare tracks! As part of their “Walk On” series, today’s song is one of four featured re-releases, both of which have been pressed on limited marble vinyl! Though you may (like me) be just as happy with a download? Either way, you can whichever format you fancy on Discodelic’s Bandcamp page, here.
You can also find the other 45 in this series, here.
Originally released on a Panamanian label called Taboga Records sometime in the late 1960’s, today’s song is a super-rare 45 that was fetching over £100 for a copy over four years ago (this is the last time one made it onto Discogs!!). Performed by a group called Los Misticos, information about this band is just as rare as a physical copy itself, so my apologies for not being able to elaborate on the details here!
Soul Jeronimo was the B-side, accompanying a track called Hablame on the flipside, but this song doesn’t seem to be available to listen to anywhere, such is its rarity! Thank goodness for labels like Discodelic, as it is thanks to them that funky nuggets like today’s song can be unearthed and shared!! Wohoo! I hope you enjoy!!
Those vocal exclamations on the record encaspulate my feelings about this song. So much energy!! So much funk!! So much amazing and wild instrumentation!! And so so good!!
