Future Shapes is the solo project of a young San Franciscan and his sound is a fine blend of the weird and the wonderful. Taken from a split EP ‘Love Weights’, released February this year, (with shared tracks from Dot Vom), 2nd single ‘Tear Me Apart’ does a fine job of dressing up dejected lyrics into a pretty melody; it’s disguise will lure you in. Once in, its waltzing rhythm sweeps over you in a romantic wave of lo-fi dreaminess and you find yourself happy to drift on its wave, bobbing up and down as droning lyrics rise and fall in it’s swell.
It’s a fantastic track of obscure beauty, where darkness dwells in the veils of light and all is not what it first seems.
