SONG OF THE DAY / CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN! Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings – Please Come Home For Christmas

downloadNever let it be said that I have a big fondness for this Christmas lark, but it’s Christmas Eve and the festive season is well and truly upon us!…and what better way to greet the eve of the big day than with a bit of Sharon Jones & The Dap-kings! But wait I hear you say, what does Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings have to do with Christmas? Well, if you haven’t already heard it, these Brooklyn funksters have released a fantastic seasonal LP titled ‘It’s a Holiday Soul Party,’ and it’s full to the brim of soulful holiday originals and rearranged covers that will be sure to get your baubles jingling!

The 11-track album is the group’s first holiday-themed album, featuring both original tracks (“Big Bells,” “Ain’t No Chimneys in the Projects”) as well as seasonal favourites, ranging from “8 Days (Of Hanukkah)” and “Silver Bells” to “Silent Night” and their “Funky Little Drummer Boy,” it’s all about fun fun fun, I love it!

Yule certainly be rockin’ around the Christmas tree to these lively tunes, you spirits will well and truly be lifted and no, I don’t just mean the type you fill your glass with!  It’s a jolly, happy and rather monster helping of happiness and goodwill!

Watch and listen above.
