SONG OF THE DAY Danny Boy Thomas – Kokomo Me Baby

R-7290038-1532534061-5285If you’re loving this song right now, brace yourself for the not-so-great news!!! There seems to be only a couple of 45’s out there recorded by this artist, and one of these has been questioned as to whether it’s the same person?!!

Kokomo Me Baby was the b-side to a 45 released in 1961 by an artist/band going by the name of Danny Boy & His Blue Guitar. Accompanied by Wild Woman on the A-side, this bluesy dream was issued on the Tifco label and is one of only a tiny handful of songs recorded by blues singer/guitarist, Danny Thomas (a.k.a. Danny Boy Thomas) throughout the 1960’s.

The second (and only other) 45 recorded by a Danny Boy Thomas was issued a few years later, in 1968. You can see why these tracks have been questioned as to whether this is the same artist, as this 45 has a whole different sound!  Issued on The Groovy label, Have No Fear  b/w My Love is Over are soul numbers and quite a far cry from the blues sound of Kokomo Me Baby and Wild Woman, so who knows??

If anyone reading this can shed some light on this issue, please do get in touch! Enjoy!
