Alceu Valença & Geraldo Azevedo – Planetário

R-3001720-1477165058-9588Oh wow!! This song makes you feel like you have slept walked into a street full of fire crackers and then woke up!! Its crazy, the vocals are insane and it’s a frenzy of sound….I love it!!

The ear-feast that is Planetário came about when Brazilian artists Alceu Valença & Geraldo Azevedo teamed up in 1972 to release their self-titled debut album. This song featured alongside 11 other psych-tinged tracks and constructed what is considered a pioneering record!

Alceu Valença is a poet/musician/composer known and celebrated for his musical fusions of traditional Brazilian music and modern pop. Utilising the electric guitar, electric bass and synths, alongside a broad range of electronic sounds and effects, his creations have had a great influence on Brazilian music!  Geraldo Azevedo was also a Brazilian composer, songwriter and self-taught musician who met and started working with Valença in the early-1970’s. Both artists have been active for five decades and continue to record and perform to this day…. often return to the glory of this album when playing live!

I’m still relatively new to this album, so am working my way through it as I type (which I have pasted below for your listening pleasure!). After another little delve around, I’ve also just stumbled upon an interesting compilation that Mr Bongo issued in 2011 which features a lot of tracks from this cool duo – This is pasted below too (hopefully, if link works)…..I hope you enjoy!
