SONG OF THE DAY The Comet Is Coming – Lifeforce Part II

Image result for comet is coming lifeforce II“The Comet is Coming to destroy illusions. It will manifest new realities, perceptions, levels of awareness and abilities to coexist. It is a musical expression forged in the deep mystery. It is the overcoming of fear, the embracing of chaos, the peripheral sight that we might summon the fire. Through the transcendent experience of music we reconnect with the energy of the Lifeforce in hope of manifesting higher realities in new constructs. Because the end is only really the beginning”  (Comet Is Coming)

One thing I’ve noticed (even more so) since doing my blog is that mood is the be-all and end-all it comes to music! This may sound pretty obvious and I guess it is really, but I marvel how differently I can feel about music from one day to the next.  I’ve been introduced to things and I’ve felt nothing, yet I hear it a few days later and I’m loving it! Music can stir and make you forget, it can absorb and empty the mind, but all the time its there, addressing a particular need…

Today’s song is all about freedom and expression.  Addressing my desire to break away, its free-flowing, exploratory jazz melodies and dark cosmic undertones offer melodic abandon and escapism; this stuff makes takes you away from it all and for four-and-a-half minutes is the perfect focus for distraction!!

Incorporating elements of jazz, electronica, funk and psych-rock, The Comet Is Coming are made up of Shabaka Hutchings on Saxophone (aka “King Shabaka”), Dan Leavers on synths and keys (aka “Danalogue The Conquerer”) and Maxwell Hallett on drums (aka “Betamax Killer”)    ……and their mission:  To paint the universe with their cosmic vibrancy and sound-shifting light!  New track, Lifeforce Part II, is the first piece taken from The Comet Is Coming‘s new mini-album The Afterlife.  Acting as a companion piece to Trust In The Lifeforce Of The Deep Mystery (which released in March this year), the album will be released digitally on September 27th and physically on December 6th via Impulse Records.

Speaking of the release the band explained how, “the two records can be seen as companions, that cannot exist without each other, like day and night, light and dark, creation and destruction.  They were made together, at the same time, and have always been intended to be experienced together”.

The title of the album concerns “finding meaning in that which you cannot grasp”, it considers “truth in the existence of a primordial energy” and asks “What does it mean to be human?”  Check it out above….
