SONG OF THE DAY Antonio Carlos & Jocafi – Simbarere

Simbareré (track) by Antonio Carlos & Jocafi : Best Ever AlbumsFounded in 1969 by Antônio Carlos Marques Pinto and José Carlos Figueiredo, Brazilian duet, Antonio Carlos & Jocafi were a very successful and famous Brazilian writing duo born in Bahia.  Active mainly throughout the 1970s, they composed and played a wealth of TV soap opera soundtracks, as well as releasing an array of albums, singles and EP’s over the 70’s,80’s and 90’s! Throughout their career they also worked with likes of Wilson Simonal, (guitarist) Rosinha De Valença, Trio Mocotó, Milton Banana, Toquinho and many more.

Originally released on RCA Brazil in 1971, Mudei De Idéia was the duo’s debut LP, which was closely followed a year later by Cada Segundo (also released on RCA). It was from this second album that today’s song is taken. Simbarerê’ is a full on groove classic with a chorus line that will stick with you all day. This psychedelic-Latin-Brazilian-funk fusion is gloriously heavy on drums and percussion, adorned with rich funk bass and festooned with vibrant lead guitar and horn sections! Check it out above.
