SONG OF THE DAY Inell Young – What Do You See In Her

Inell Young released this funky groove in 1972 on Libra Records, but who was she? The song itself was written by a New Orleans DJ and occasional songwriter named Gus ‘The Groove’ Lewis, but nowhere elaborates on Young?  I’ve just spent the last 20 minutes trawling the internet and it would seem that a lot of people are asking the same question?

Throughout the song, Inell Young’s silky-soul vocals croon the question “What Do You See In Her” and though the melody offers some mighty fine funk riffs and sunshiny tunage, the lyrics tell a different story. In love with “a guy who’s crazy for another“, broken-hearted lyrics lament “He has no eyes for me.” Frustration and disappointment ripples through the questioning lines as they repeatedly declare,  What Do You See In Her/Are you blind, scared to see/What do you see in her/You can’t find in me”…….

It’s a sweet-soul sensation! Listen above and if anyone has any information about this artist, do get in touch!?
