SONG OF THE DAY Ruby Andrews – You Made a Believer out of Me

PrimaryRuby Stackhouse, better known as Ruby Andrews, was born in Hollandale, Mississippi in 1947 and spent most of her life singing! From a young age she gathered a lot of her vocal experience from performing in many choirs and by the time she reached her early teens she was singing in a vocal group called the Vondells. Her first single was released in her early 20’s on Chicago label, Zodiac Records, and such was her success, she later emerged as the label’s flagship artist!!

In 1970 she released the full length album, Everybody Saw You, which included an update to her first (and very powerful) hit, Casanova 70. The album has since gone on to near-legendary status as one of the great lost soul albums of the early 1970’s and it’s obvious to see the impeccable appeal if you’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing it? Take a peek at the bottom of this post if you haven’t heard this little gem!

If you could bottle the joy in today’s epic delight, you’d be set for life! Taken from her debut LP, Made a Believer out of Me. will make a believer out of you! Andrews’ voice is giant, the song is full of life and it resonates! What more can I say…It’s just a smiler! Check it out above and you’d like to read more about Ruby Andrews, I’ve found an interesting review here.
