SONG OF THE DAY Boom Pam – Uniton

Boom Pam creates a rather enticing array of sonic fusions and through these mind-blending sounds comes a thrill your ears will not forget!! Founded in 2003, Boom Pam are a Middle Eastern surf-rock band from Tel Aviv, Isreal. Taking their name from a song of the same title by Greek-Israeli singer Aris San, the band play a unique mix of Mediterranean-Middle Eastern music, paired with rock and surf music as well as elements of klezmer, Balkan and Greek music.

Well-known and revered for being pioneers of Middle Eastern surf rock, their creations consisted of crazy-catchy guitar riffs, roaring basslines and fiery percussion. With over 20 years of playing together all over the world, collaborations include musical delights such as Kutiman and the legendary Turkish artist, Selda Bağcan.

Needless to say, they have a large repertoire of albums and 45’s, not to mention the music they have recorded for films!

Today’s song is taken Alakazam, a record Boom Pam released in 2010 via Israeli label,  Audio Montage Entertainment. The surf element is prevalent in many songs on this record and, whilst I’m not definitely as keen on the featured vocal tunes, it’s a record worth checking out (I’ve pasted it below) – the album cover is pretty cool too!

Uniton is one of my favourite tracks which, like its 13 other counterparts, is not lacking at all on the energy front…It’s a little thriller! Check it out above
