SONG OF THE DAY Los Silvertones – Tamborito Swing

R-12431007-1535146951-5603 (1)Consisting of Johnny Phillips (bass), Hector Lopez on (bongos), Mario Lopez (Congas), Wilfredo Robinson (drums), Roy Clark (guitar/vocals), Carlos Allen (lead vocals), Eugenuio Dorch and Ricardo Bermudez (Saxaphone), the Los Silvertones emerged from Panama in the early 1970’s.

Known for their high brow fusions of Calypso, funk, soul, reggae and Latin, they released their one and only eponymous album on RCA records in 1972. There is very little else out there about this cool group, unfortunately, but what I can tell you – and what you will be able to hear for yourself – is that there is never a dull moment with this band!

PrimaryToday’s fiery and percussively-lavish delight is entitled Tamborito Swing and was released on a label from Panama called Padisco in 1969. More recently, this track has appeared on volume 2 of the Panama! series, which was released on UK’s Soundway Records. It’s a glorious feast of sound and definitely one of my favourite Los Silvertones tracks!

Check it out above and enjoy!
