When it comes to hip hop/rap I’m very selective in what I like to listen to, but Andy Bernstein (aka Abdominal) and Matt Ford ( aka DJ Format) encapsulate the perfect combination of inventive funky tunes, stomping beats and engaging lyrics, which I absolutely love and can’t get enough of!
With just over a week to wait for the release of their new album, Still Hungry, I couldn’t resist featuring another song from their new LP (thankfully there is still one that I haven’t already covered); I present the exciting, upbeat, scratchy grooves of Diamond Hammer!
Collaborating on each other’s solo records for many years, this new album (according to their Bandcamp page), marks their first joint album. The brand new LP boasts the best of what they each bring to the hip-hop community: funky, up-tempo and slick beats, coupled with intelligent, savvy lyrics. The LP also showcases a grittier, harder sound, reflecting the maturity of the two, giving their audience some head-bobbing bangers that could rock any concert hall.
