SONG OF THE DAY Ounce – Hooch

If its peace, light and serenity you are after today you’ve come to the wrong place; shut down this page and walk away!…

If, on the other hand, you are looking for some shadowy psychedelic realm in which to escape to, you are home, look no further, just dim the lights and head for the darkness!

Auckland, New Zealand 5-piece Ounce have today released their highly anticipated debut album OZ, a record that follows hot on the heels of a mind-altering run of singles and senses-defying live shows.  Boasting 10 tracks of unyielding unabashed fury, this collection is masterful in its fierce and menacing fervor.  Drawing upon a diverse sonic melting pot of influences from kraut rock to surf, 50’s exotica to space rock, OZ features previously released favourites Electric Eye, Satan II and Crocodile alongside a fistful of fresh tracks!

I’ve given the record a good back-to-back blast about three times over now and have a few favourite tracks (though the whole album is strong from start to finish).  Hooch snarls around an ominous bass line as the howls and growls of sinister guitar joins the march and amidst this dark fury a fearsome beast is unleashed..Check it out above.

OZ is out now on 1:12 Records,listen/purchase your copy from here.
