SONG OF THE DAY The Harlem Gospel Travelers – He’s On Time

My oh my! Do I have the juciest slice of soul for you to get your teeth into today! Leave no room for pudding, this beauty is going to fill you right up!!!

Consisting of Asher Bethune, George Marage, Stephen Pedley, Thomas Gatling, the Harlem Gospel Travelers hail from the far-flung corners of the five boroughs of New York City.  Drawn to Harlem for its hive of African-American culture, this young group of voices discovered and developed their talent as a group through shared vision for singing.  Bought together by Eli Paperboy Reed when they were students at a gospel class, they began to develop their own style and write songs.  At this point Eli decided that they needed to get into the studio and put something down so he enlisted the help of friends to serve as a band for his students, including drummer Aaron Frazer (Durand Jones & The Indications, The Flying Stars Of Brooklyn NY)….and the result is this glorious and most elating album entitled He’s On Time which is brought to you courtesy of Colemine Records.

The records title track is wholly uplifting, delivering a sound so big that it could fill any space with pure energy and brilliance, consuming even the darkest corner with soulful sunshine.  The high notes send shivers, their sound is authentic and timeless and what I really love is that it’s virtually impossible not to smile when this force  surges through your ears.  Listen above and check out/purchase the whole album from here.
