SONG OF THE DAY Black Market Brass – Omega

I love how this instrumental track slowly gathers momentum!  How the building blocks to this vibrant sonic structure gradually take shape as layers clash in colourful tones.  This has a lush, tropical feel and though subtle to start, the unpredictable dynamic adds striking contrast when it gets going.

Omega is the latest track from Minneapolis-based group, Black Market Brass.  Performing their own brand of originally composed Afrobeat/Afrofunk music, as well as completing authentic renditions of the classic 1970’s West African sound, this outfit are all about the groove!

Taking their cues from the godfathers, the band draws on complex polyrhythmic percussion, driving bass lines, dizzying guitar interplay, rolling keyboards, and room-commanding brass. The result? An eclectic blend of cool deep funk and driving Afrobeat grooves that will lure you to the dance floor and never let you leave.

With a couple of albums under their belts and a single and an EP, Omega is their latest installment to be released on Colemine Records earlier this month.  Check it out above and watch the performance below!
