SONG OF THE DAY Kirby Lee – Laura Marie

I bring to you tonight a rather mysterious 45!  I caught this rockabilly gem on the Musicdawn Christmas Youtube show the other night and my ears perked up from the moment it started!  Issued on a label called Pirco, the track is performed by an artist called Kirby Lee and is entitled, Laura Marie. It sounds a lot like Bo Diddley with its catchy syncopated beat and really grooves along with its rather infectious melody and sweet harmonica embellishments!

I’ve yet to find a release date for this single and further details are pretty much non existent; this track seems to be the only record issued on the Pirco label and, backed with Midnight Mission, the only two songs Kirby Lee ever released?  I like a little mystery though and it kind of makes this song even more special? Check it out above.
