SONG OF THE DAY Los Eliceos – La Cabaña

Secondary, 2 of 2How’s about this for a rare one? Issued in 1976 on an obscure label called Banda Records, today’s song seems to be the only release that the band and the label ever put out?..as far as I can work out, that is!

I can’t find anything out about Los Eliceos, other than they were from Mexico and the label, well, all that is listed under their name is this one 45 by Los Eliceous and then nothing, until many years later in 2019!

With a nice Santana-edge to it, La Cabaña is pure Latin funk at its finest. It’s got plenty of dynamic rhythmic layers to keep up with the fiery melody and makes for one sizzling funk instrumental. This track was the A-side with El Chiviri which, unfortunately, I can’t even share with you as no version exists online, but I’d like to imagine it sounding just as cool? Enjoy!
