SONG OF THE DAY JJ Whitefield – Maccheroni

The Madlib Invazion Music Library Series was created by Madlib and Egon over the course of the Pandemic with the vision to give their creative friends the ability to stretch out, explore and indulge in whatever type of music they wanted for release on the label.

This first taste from the recently launched Madlib Invazion Music Library Series finds JJ Whitefield at the controls with Ethio Meditations / Drama Al Dente. Over the course of the LP’s nineteen tracks, Whitefield explores Ethiopian jazz, psychedelic funk and a whole load of cool beats! The series describes itself as a nod to “the best ‘Music Library’ releases of the past, highlighting labels such as Italy’s Sermi, UK’s Bruton, France’s MP2000 and the UK’s DeWolfe. in the mix!

The series contains 12 releases by DJ Muggs, Karriem Riggins, J-Zone, the Heliocentrics’ Malcolm Catto and Jake Ferguson, JJ Whitefield of Karl Hector/Whitefield Brothers/Poets of Rhythm, Motif Alumni and Music Research Library, Mario Luciano of Polyphonic Music Library, Henkel, Gabriel Rowland of Los Yesterdays, Dan Hastie and Terin Ector of Orgone, Dan Ubick and Joe Harrison

The albums will be released on the Madlib Invazion Bandcamp on the first Friday of each month over the course of one year! The second instalment is also available now and comes courtesy of Jake Ferguson and Malcolm Catto – this you can find, here.

Ethio Meditations / Drama Al Dente was released last month and closes with today’s rhythmic beast, Maccheroni. This instrumental delight has an ‘epic’ feel about it with its surging horns and BIG beats! I love the way it all comes together and love those giant breaks!

Check it out above and listen to the whole album below!
