SONG OF THE DAY The Sorcerers – Bebaynetu

Such cool news!!! The Sorcerers are back and are due to release their third album next month via Leeds-based label ATA Records! I Too Am A Stranger follows 2020’s In Search Of The Lost City Of The Monkey God and looks set to be another adventure into escapism! Here, worlds full of Ethio-Jazz and all things funky come to life! You don’t have to look any further than The Sorcerers to extend your mind into new realms!!

I Too Am A Stranger was recorded at ATA Studios by the core Sorcerers trio (drummer: Joost Hendricks, bassist: Neil Innes and musician/producer/ATA label-founder: Pete Williams). Also added to this cosmic mix is reed/flute/vibes/keyboard player: Richard Ormrod, up-and-coming Leeds trumpeter: Olivia Cuthill and regular collaborator: Danny Templema!

According to The Sorcerers, this new offering is a “resolutely maximal endeavour, reflecting the cosmopolitan and cross-cultural networks that comprise our world; wherever we’ve come from, wherever we are and wherever we’re going, we are all new to the future…”

Never have times been so in need of such a vision!

The Sorcerers have perfected their Ethio-inspired soundscapes, crafting a truly unique identity, whilst paying homage to the rich history and cultural significance of this influential style of music.  Ahead of the albums release, Bebaynetu is now available for streaming and should you choose to venture into its mysterious clutches, I can assure you that the next four minutes will be an absolute flute-fuelled, rhythmic-orientated and brass-mapped delight!! Enjoy!

I Too Am A Stranger is due on the 9th February and if you fancy pre-ordering yourself a copy, you can do that here!
