Having spent time in New York this year working on the follow-up to his debut album Built On Glass, Melbourne’s Chet Faker is coming home to play some huge shows across October and November.
He has also just spent the best part of two years working alongside fellow Melburnians ‘The Cactus Channel’ on a brand new 2-track record which has just been released today via HopeStreet Recordings .
The collaboration with the 10-piece funk/soul band makes for effective and tuneful blend, with Chet Fakers super-soulful vocals and songwriting skills superbly complementing The Cactus Channel’s feel for musical instrumentation, it is literally sweet music to my ears.
Working on his second studio album, Chet Faker recently revealed that this release will be more ‘heavily performance-based’, and less electronic with more ‘rhythm, groove-based stuff”. With a potential new musical direction up ahead, will the music he has created with The Cactus Channel filter through into his new material and is this is what we can possibly expect to hear on his next solo record? I eagerly await..
Meanwhile you can hear more from The fantastic Cactus Channel here
‘Kill The Doubt’ is out now and can be purchased from here
