Describing themselves as an evocative, Alt-rock outfit, London quartet DROOL are another band shortlisted in Glastonbury’s 2019 Emerging Talent Competition.
Fusing late 80’s post-punk, 90’s grunge and short 60’s melodic structures, the band are a product of a very impulsive union and the story behind their coming together goes a little something like this: Early last year singer-songwriter, Joey Rogers and Drummer, Martin Söderin (formerly of VANT), struck up a chance conversation in an East End café. Having known each other for five minutes they decided to form a band and get Louis Greenway (Guitarist) and Joe Bennison (Bass Guitarist) to complete the line up…et voila, DROOL was born!
Already gathering a healthy following their reputation has earned the band a show at a couple of landmark rock n roll venues for scouting rising stars and they’ve already played Birmingham’s Sunflower Lounge and Camden Dingwalls.
DROOL’s sound skillfully combines influences from a range of decades, incorporating their love of Joy Division, Buzzcocks, Pixies, Nirvana and the post garage revival of The Vines and The Strokes. It’s a clever concoction because it authentically recycles old familiar sounds whilst generating something new and original.
