SONG OF THE DAY Mike Edison & Guadalupe Plata – Who Ya Gonna Call

A very welcome return for Spain’s finest purveyors of raw, rock’n’roll blues comes in the form of today’s dusty refrain.  Announced two days ago, Guadalupe Plata have teamed up with US artist/blues singer, Mike Edison for new album, The Devil Can’t Do You No Harm.  This will be the band’s first release since their 2018 self-titled offering and sees a new collaboration with the spoken word artist, blues singer, multi-instrumenalist, and storyteller (who gigs regularly with his group Mike Edison and the Insterstellar Rendezvous Band).

Edison’s bluesy rasp lends itself well to first single Who Ya Gonna Call; a sun-scorched venture into parched lands of expansive desert. Illustrated by twangy guitar riffs and rolling dust-devil rhythms, this song will set the imagination to the heart of the sun…and roam you will! Check it out above.

Released on Madrid’s Everlasting Records, a date for the new album is yet to be revealed, but I’ll be keeping my ears open for this and will share as soon as I know.

“Tune in and turn on — Salvation Lies Within!!!!” (Mike Edison)
