SONG OF THE DAY The Tides – Midnight Limbo

Ahh, thank goodness for sweet, sweet music!!  Today’s twangy dream rescued me from the doldrums and whisked me away into its chirpy clutches. This cool R&B tittyshaker was issued as 45 in 1962 on Mercury Records and was backed with (the not as cool, but wonderfully percussive) Limbo Rock .

There’s not much I can tell you about the band that released this (slightly folky) soulful slice of rhythmically pleasing exotica, other than they were called The Tides and were accompanied The Merry Melody Singers – I assume its their dreamy vocals we can hear swirling about amidst this carnival of sounds as a baritone voice bellows “Midnight Limbo, Midnight Limbo”…… Check it out above.
