SONG OF THE DAY Jon Kennedy – Enchantica

PrimaryI’d never heard of Jonathan Kennedy, aka Jon Kennedy, until the intriguing delights of Enchantica drifted into my ear-radar last night. Combining samples from Alice Coltrane’s Something About John Coltrane with some rather tasty beats, I’m also going to make a wild guess and suggest that the lyric sample may have been taken from Eden Ahbez’s Nature Boy? I love how this song hints upon so many things, but remains hidden in relative mystery. Enchantica does exactly what the title suggests.

Jon Kennedy was born in the hills around Lancashire, England and has, to date, created an extensive catalogue of music to his name since his first release in 2001. His music has earned him a well-respected place in the downtempo, beats, breaks and electronic scene and his production skills continue to impress any DJ/listener lucky enough to stumble upon his unique production sound. Most of what he releases now is issued on his own label, The Jon Kennedy Federation and his skills don’t stop there! Over the years he has worked alongside many labels including the likes of, Tru Thoughts, Grand Central, Organik Recordings, My First Moth…as well as this he has remixed oer 70 artists on various films and branded ads!

Enchantica was issued as a stand-alone track in April 2017 and can still be purchased for download on Jon Kennedy’s Bandcamp page, here. Enjoy!
